Queensland election: guide for CFMEU Mining and Energy members

A message from Mitch Hughes, Senior Vice President

I have written to all candidates in key seats where CFMEU Mining and Energy members live and work, with questions about their position and approach on key issues including:

  • Mine safety
  • Support for coal mining and power industries and workers
  • Automation and its impact on jobs
  • Support for skills training
  • Casualisation and work rights
  • Investment in mining communities

Letter to One Nation candidates

We will share the responses with Members.

Where candidates and/or parties have failed to respond you can take it as an indication of their commitment to our members and issues.

Based on these responses and candidates’ stated positions on issues, we have developed ‘How to Vote’ suggestions for Keppel, Burdekin, Mirani, Gregory, Mackay, Gladstone, Rockhampton and Whitsunday.

Please get in touch if you have any questions, contact me at [email protected]
