Send an email to show your support for Tahmoor mining jobs

Show your support for the Tahmoor mine extension. Without the extension over 400 local miners will lose their jobs when existing coal reserves are exhausted.

As well as the 400 direct coal mining jobs, the extension would support hundreds of jobs in the community, 170 construction jobs and inject millions into the local economy.

Tell the Member for Wollondilly, Nathaniel Smith MP, that you support the extension and ask him to support it too.

This is what your email will say (your name will be automatically added):

Dear Nathaniel Smith MP,

I am seeking your support for the Tahmoor South Mine extension.

Without the extension over 400 local miners will lose their jobs in 18 months when existing coal reserves at the Tahmoor coal mine are exhausted.

Tahmoor miners live in Tahmoor and Bargo and their kids go to local schools; the mine is the lifeblood of the local community.

The extension will also create over 170 new jobs during the construction phase and $665 million in benefit to the state.

There is strong community support in the Bargo and Wollondilly Shires for this project as it will inject $137 million into the local shire and almost $5 million in council rates.

Tahmoor Coal have worked with the community to reduce any impact on native vegetation, water resources, or residents.

Opposition to the mine has in the main come from property developers who wish to profit from a residential subdivision in Bargo.

Mining has successfully coexisted with South Coast communities for well over a century and this extension ensures it will continue into the future.

I ask you back the Tahmoor South Mine extension.

Sincerely,
