Ipswich families enjoy Labour Day at the Races

For the 12th consecutive year, the CFMEU Mining and Energy Labour Day race meeting was enjoyed by thousands as families came to Bundamba to join in the fun.

Our Union sponsors the day as a tribute to May Day in the Ipswich Community, and provides fairground fun including a giant slide and jumping castle, face painting, a petting zoo - all the fun of the fair.

The main stand was full, and onlookers also lined up at the outside fence over 200 metres for each race. The seven races were full of quality and carried plenty of prize money.

The Labour Day Cup was run early in the day and was won by the Lindsay Hatch trained Kuttumurra Al, who provided a great thrill for owners, trainer, and jockey alike.
